The first part of the triptych Mutatis Mutandis, a mixed media sculpture Transfiguration, is about alterations of consciousness.
Levente Móró called the human consciousness a ”world simulator”, because the entirety of mind and brain combines into a different subjective conception of the world for every person. Hypnosis, different states of sleep, stress and drugs all alter out perception of reality.
According to psychodynamic psychology, existence and development of self is a constant search of balance between conflicts and influence. ”Transfiguration” visualizes the ego, a constant alteration state between conscious and unconscious. A limbo of something primal and delicately structured forced to coexist.
To describe the clash between realities, I strived to construct the figure as it was floating in a dream-like state between the internal and the external world. I approached the subject creating something both delicate and violent. The relic-like sculpture draws a reference from the antique, a statue of something almost forgotten.
